Plains are a common terrain type that may even be considered the default tile of many maps. They provide quick, efficient movement for most units, and may encourage the use of vehicles such as the Tank. They also provide a defense boost to ground units, though less than some other terrain types such as Woods.
Jake has an affinity for plains, gaining an attack boost when his units (including those in the air) fight on them. He can make particularly good use of this to contest properties with 2-hit-kills in the important Infantry and Tank matchups. Even so, their lower defense value should still be carefully considered before moving and engaging.
Adverse weather conditions such as rain and snow will slow down vehicles on plains, so this may encourage the use of roads despite their vulnerability.
